Sarah Leask Studio is an illustration-led brand created and run by Sarah from her home studio in Aberdeen. The business began in 2017, almost by accident, while Sarah was working a kitchen sales job after graduating. Feeling homesick for Shetland, she began painting watercolour maps of the islands as a reminder of home, artwork that quickly resonated with others who felt the same connection.
What started with a single Shetland map soon grew into a wider collection celebrating Scotland, particularly its islands, with Sarah painting places she loved and wanted to highlight. After early success selling locally, the brand expanded into gift shops around the country, like here at Wee Green Place!
Sarah’s now-iconic illustrated drinks bottle designs came later through creating wedding stationery for her brother. Illustrating gin bottles as table names sparked a new direction for the brand, leading to best-selling products such as her Scottish Gin and Scottish Whisky tea towels.
Colour and pattern are central to her work, with every design beginning as a watercolour painting or hand-drawn illustration.
Sarah works directly with UK-based manufacturers and printers to ensure high-quality products, while personally handling everything from illustration and design to order fulfilment and customer care.
