Paraffle is a Scottish-based embroidery kit brand with an eco-friendly ethos, created to make embroidery accessible to everyone. Founded by Sammy in 2016 while studying for a PhD in Edinburgh, the brand grew from a desire for a creative outlet and a way to make meaningful, affordable gifts.
Paraffle is built around the belief that embroidery is for everyone, whether you’re picking up a needle for the first time or returning to a well-loved craft. Their kits are designed to offer an easy entry point into embroidery, encouraging mindful creativity as a way to relax, reduce stress, and find a sense of fulfilment.
Community sits at the heart of Paraffle. The brand fosters a welcoming, supportive space where people are encouraged to share, ask questions, and inspire one another, helping build confidence and creativity along the way.
Sustainability is a core part of Paraffle’s mission. The brand is transparent about its processes and aims to be part of the solution rather than contributing to harm. Wherever possible, Paraffle uses organic and Fairtrade materials, donates at least 10% of profits to charity, and supports rainforest protection and reforestation projects to offset carbon emissions.
The name Paraffle comes from an old Scots word meaning both embroidery and an ostentatious display, a playful nod to the craft itself and the joy of creative expression.
